The South Lane School District will be open tomorrow – Monday, March 4th except for Dorena Elementary School.

The South Lane School District will be open tomorrow – Monday, March 4th except for Dorena Elementary School.

• Dorena students will not attend school on Monday.

• Dorena teachers, office manager and educational assistants will report to the District Office at 8:00.

• We plan to open Dorena on Tuesday for staff and students if power is restored by Monday. If not, the district plans to transport Dorena students to Harrison Elementary School until the building can be opened.

If a staff member is unable to report to work tomorrow due to issues related to the recent weather, please contact their supervisor as soon as possible.

Transportation Information – Monday, March 4th

• All buses on Snow Routes
• Buses will not travel on Reservior Road, Sears Road, Row River Road (dam side of Dorena Lake), and Row River Road (above Sharps Creek turn-off)

24 Hour Shelter Open – The Red Cross has opened a 24-hour shelter at the old Harrison Elementary School building in Cottage Grove. It is located at 1000 South 10th Street. Food and beds are available.

Rock Climbing and UO Tour

On December 2nd, students traveled to The Crux rock climbing gym in Eugene. Every student climbed to the top of the wall, on belay with a rope. They also had fun working on their skills on the bouldering walls. After lunch at the top of Skinner's Butte, they toured the UO campus with a student ambassador.

Go Pro in Action

Students in Danny Henson's SPARK group are editing footage taken with the new Go Pro cameras. The final product will cover students restoring the wetlands at Quamash prairie and the recent field trip with David Heritage, to the corn maze.

Attendance Matters

At the recent school board meeting, it was shared that Al Kennedy has moved from 30% to 38% of students attending school 90% of the time. Part of the growth may be due to a new program that Principal Mike Ingman and Dean of Students, Halie Ketcher, have been attending. Other efforts are coming from weekly letters home about attendance and PBIS tickets in the classroom for on time participation.
