Quamash Prairie

Students at Al Kennedy High School have done service learning with Lane County at Quamash Prairie for over a decade.  Students that elect to participate in our Quamash class spend their Wednesdays working in the field at Quamash Prairie learning about ecology through wetland mitigation projects.  Students at Quamash are engaged in service learning through working and learning about wetlands and wetland mitigation, including removing invasive weeds and planting native flowering plants. Al Kennedy High School has been able to secure grant funds for service learning over the past few years, so we have been able to pay our students minimum wage for the service learning work that they are doing at Quamash in addition to the high school credits that they earn.
